Rodney Earl Martin, 61, passed away on August 16, 2022 at his home in Arnold, Kansas. He was born on February 19, 1961 in Garden City, Kansas the son of Roy and Charlotte (Chapman) Martin.
Rodney, known as Rod or Barney by friends and family, worked in the oilfield for most of his adult life. Most recently he worked as a pumper for Gerald Walker of Dighton. He was a member of the Sunley-Squier Post No. 382 Sons of the American Legion. He was a proud father and grandfather. He loved to ride his motorcycles, taking his grandson, Brendon to Sturgis in 2013. He was interested in paleontology and would often search for sharks' teeth and fossils, boasting many finds and small treasures.
Survivors include: Terry Watson, ex-wife and mother of his daughter, Tifini (Trent) Shull of WaKeeney; ex-wife, Carol Hatman; 3 stepchildren, Jennifer, Billie Jean, Heather; 2 sisters, DeAnna (Ken) Hayes of Wichita, Monica (Trae) Kleymann of Sedgwick; 4 nephews, Josh Dumler, T.J. Kleymann, Michael Kleymann, Stephen Kleymann; 1 niece, April Roy; 5 grandchildren, Brendon Martin, Alexis Chapman (Mason Jasper), Jessika Chapman, Jeremiah Foskuhl, Martin Shull; and 1 great-grandchild, Calcifer Jasper. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has occurred. A memorial service will be held at the First Chrisian Church in Dighton, on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 10:00 A.M.
