Ruth Elmina Williams, 97, passed away in peace and love January 30, 2019 in Ness City, Kansas.
She was born October 11, 1921 in Hugo, Oklahoma to James A. and Minnie Ann (Crawford) Parnell.
Ruth received her education from Hugo High School, Oklahoma City University and Eastern Oklahoma State College. She married her high school sweetheart Oscar Williams on September 6, 1940 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. To this union two children, Jim Oscar and Quannah Lou, were born.
Ruth was a kindergarten teacher. She had a passion and talent for teaching young children. She loved all her students at Humpty Dumpty Kindergarten and they loved her!
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Oklahoma Teachers Association, Business and Professional Women, Red Cross volunteer, Cub Scout Den Mother, Blue Birds and Campfire Girls leader. Ruth and Oscar were dorm parents for boys at Jones Academy, Hartshorne, Oklahoma and Tulsa Boys Home, Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was very proud to be a member of The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Ruth leaves behind many beautiful memories that we will always cherish and carry in our hearts. She is survived by her son Jim Oscar (Priscilla) Williams, Lincoln, Kansas, her daughter Quannah Lou (Cletus) Gross, Ellis, Kansas, 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and countless kindergarten students. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband
Ruth was laid to rest beside her beloved husband Oscar on February 4, 2019 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hugo Oklahoma.
A celebration of her life will be at Hugo in the springtime when the dogwood and redbud bloom.
