Sandra Joyce Chapman, 79, passed away on June 11, 2019 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born on October 12, 1939 in WaKeeney, Kansas the daughter of Dale and Anna (Hockanson) Mendenhall.

She was an accountant, a member of the First Christian Church, Utica, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Joy Center both of Dighton. Sandra enjoyed her family and spending time with them. On February 14, 1960 she married Leland Chapman in Utica, Kansas. Together they made their home in Utica and Dighton.

Survivors include her husband, Leland Chapman; son, Jack Chapman and his wife, Susan, of Dighton; daughter, Melissa Jacobs and her husband, Jake, of Middlebury, Indiana; two brothers, Gaylon Mendenhall and his wife Darlene, of Guyman, Oklahoma and Lonnie Mendenhall and his wife, Ramona, of Andover; three sisters, Lorena Kellogg and her husband, Wilmer, of Hays, Kathryn Basinger of Salina, Jennetta Horchem-Scego of Bonne Terra, Missouri; 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Delwin Doss Chapman and his wife Tammy (Bassinger); brother, Duane Mendenhall, and sisters, Hollis Mendenhall, Gwendolyn Kennermer.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 15, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Utica. Burial in the Utica Cemetery. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Friday, June 14 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Church, Utica or the Joy Center, Dighton.
