Scott Allen Sherwin, 54, passed away on June 10, 2024, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on June 29, 1969, in Ness City, the son of Warren and Alberta (Anderson) Sherwin.
Scott grew up on the family farm in southwest Ness County and was a 1987 graduate of Ness City High School where he was an active member of FFA. He attended Kansas State University majoring in agribusiness and then returned home to farm and ranch, which he continued to do for the rest of his life. More recently Scott also drove a bus for the Garden City Public Schools. He was active with the Bible Christian Church and later, with the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Garden City for 20 years, including an outreach to Mexico. Scott was also active serving the Garden City community through Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas and for many years with the Seeds of Hope Jail prison ministry.
Scott is survived by his four sisters, Rhonda (Steve) Ashworth of Amsterdam, Netherlands; Brenda Sherwin of Jackson Hole, WY; Shelly Sherwin of Elfrida, AZ and Karen Sherwin of Garden City; nephews and nieces, John Ashworth of Elgin, IL; Sarah (James) Heatley of Oxford, England; Marie Ashworth of Wheaton, IL; Richard Wheeler (Alena Watts) and Nathan Wheeler of Tucson, AZ and one great niece, Luna Wheeler, of Tucson, AZ; and stepmother, Norma Binns Sherwin of Scott City; and stepbrothers, Tony (Leanna) Binns of Leoti and Larry Weeks of Brownell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Alberta Sherwin and his stepmother, Dorothy Weeks Sherwin.
Funeral service will be on Friday, June 21, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at the Ness City Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Buda Cemetery, Beeler, KS.
Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, in Ness City on Thursday, June 20, 2024, with the family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the High Plains Christian School, Garden City, Operation Mobilization, or Adventist World Radio.
