Obituary

Shirley Kay Basgall, age 61, died June 29, 2009 at her home after multiple courageous battles with cancer. She was born April 2, 1948 the daughter of Wally and Burdene Fairbank Schweitzer.

She was a graduate of Ransom High School and Brown Mackie College, Salina. She worked for Kansas Fish and Game for several years then was a secretary at Ransom Grade School, Western Plains Elementary for 26 years.

She married Leslie Basgall on June 20, 1970 at Wichita. He survives of the home. Other survivors include, son, Jason and wife Noel, Ellis; two daughters, Jennifer Winebrenner and husband Erick, Salina and Joni Kisslinger and husband, Dusty, Ransom; three sisters, Cindy Berry and Anna Mae Klitzke, Ransom and Betty Atkinson, Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Wally Schweitzer, Ransom and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday and from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Parish Vigil will be Wednesday, July 1, 7:00 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 2, 10:30 at the Western Plains High School, Ransom with Father Henry Hildebrandt presiding. Burial in the Ransom Cemetery.

Memorial contribution may be given to the Shirley Basgall Scholarship fund in care of the funeral home.
