Obituary

Steven Michael Herrman, 58, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away on November 4, 2025, at HaysMed in Hays, Kansas. Born on October 31, 1967, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he was the beloved son of Joseph and Della (Evel) Herrman.

Steven spent his formative years on the family farm near Utica, Kansas. He attended local schools and graduated from Utica High School in 1986. Pursuing his passion for education, Steven earned a degree in Math Education from Fort Hays State University. His career in teaching began in Meade, Kansas, where he instructed math and coached students with dedication and enthusiasm. He later brought his talents to Hays before taking on the role of Technology Director for the Healy and Grainfield schools. For the past 16 years, Steven served as Technology Director for the Ellis USD 388 School System, where his expertise and innovative spirit profoundly impacted countless students and staff.

A man of quiet strength and unwavering commitment, Steven touched many lives through his professional accomplishments and his genuine kindness. He will be deeply missed by his family, colleagues, and the communities he served so faithfully.

Steven is survived by his loving parents, Joe and Della Herrman of Utica, Kansas; and his brother, Timothy Herrman of Ellis.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City, Kansas, followed by burial in the Utica Cemetery, Utica, Kansas. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
