Susan Elaine Gonzalez, age 53, passed away at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas on July 19, 2013.
She was born on July 28, 1959 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Robert L. and Venice M. (House) Rodie. Susan was raised in New Whiteland, Indiana. She was a 1979 graduate of New Whiteland High School. She moved to Kansas in 1985 and married David Gonzalez in 2004. He survives.
In her youth she was an avid roller skater, capturing many Indiana State titles in speed skating and also is a National Speed Skating Champion. Susan enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
She is survived by her sons Jason Richardson, Terre Haute, Indiana, and Travis (Becky) Richardson, Oklahoma City; sisters Roseann Eiler, Indianapolis, and Cathy (Gary) Wethington, Lebanon, Indiana; grandchildren James and Autumn Richardson, Oklahoma City; Uncles Alexander Rodie, Dodge City and Richard Rodie, Ness City; and nephew Matthew Demaree, Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, paternal grandparents Alex and Clara (Scheuerman) Rodie, and maternal grandparents John and Cathy (Maslar) House.
Cremation services will be held Saturday, July 27 at 2:00 P.M. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be given to James and Autumn College Fund.
