Susan Louise Pfannenstiel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026 at the age of 75. She was surrounded by her loving family at home, in Aurora, Colorado.
Born on September 29, 1950, in Great Bend, Kansas, Susan was the daughter of Claude Summers and Louise Foos. She grew up in Scott City and Ransom, Kansas and graduated from Ransom High School. Susan had an internship a the First State Bank in Ransom, Kansas, under the tutelage of her father. She used this experience to pursue her life-long career in banking.
Throughout her life, Susan was a source of unwavering love, strength, and guidance to her family and friends. She married Duane Pfannenstiel on January 24, 1970, and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Together, they raised two children: Kerri Pfannenstiel and Brent Pfannenstiel, who will forever be grateful for her love and support.
In addition to her children, Susan is survived by her husband, Duane; grandchildren, Maxwell, Samantha, Korbin, Braeden, Kaleigh, and Madelyn; her brothers, David and Phillip Summers; and niece and nephew, Laurie and Mark Kimerer; and many other relatives and friends that were touched by her warmth and kindness. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister Ruth Kimerer.
The Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Susan's life will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Ransom, Kansas on January 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Ransom, Kansas. Friends and family are invited to attend to pay their respects and share their memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made in Susan's memories to St. Aloysius Church in Ransom, which was close to her heart.
Words of comfort and support may be left for the family by signing the guestbook.
