Vernard A. McGinnis, age 90, died April 16, 2012 at his home in Rhode Island Suites, Ransom, Kansas. He was born on June 25, 1921 in Brownell the son of Arthur and Sabina Gustason McGinnis.
He graduated from high school in Harper, Kansas. He retired from the United States Navy where he served from 1942 to 1962 with credit for being a World War II and Korean War Veteran.
Survivors include one sister, Eunice McGinnis, Ransom. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James Allen, Marlin and Merlin McGinnis and four sisters, Bernice Sidebottom, Ethel Sunley, Ruby McGinnis, and Elvira McGinnis.
Funeral service and burial will be Monday, April 23, 2012, 10:30 A.M. at the Vansburg Cemetery, Brownell with military graveside rites by the United States Navy, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7972 , Ransom and the American Legion Dale Sunley Post No.382 with assistance of Sons of American Legion Squadron at Brownell. Memorial contributions my be given to the Ransom VFW or the Brownell American Legion. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.fitzgeraldfuneral.com
