Verneta B. Healzer, age 89, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the Ness County Hospital, Ness City. Born March 29, 1921 in Otis, Kansas the daughter of Jacob "Jake" and Katherine Wilhelm Steitz. She was a homemaker and an active business partner in the family business, Healzer Tire, for over 60 years. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Ladies Aid, Ness City.

On March 5, 1944 she married Earl Healzer at Otis, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2003. She is survived by her sons: Stan Healzer and his wife Susan and Paul Healzer and his wife Christy both of Ness City; two brothers: Leland Steitz, LaCrosse, Kansas and Maynard Steitz, Palm Springs, California; three sisters: Leona Keil, Greeley, Colorado, Ruby Shank, LaCrosse, Wilma Steadman, Great Bend, Kansas; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two sons: John and Mark Healzer: three brothers: Victor, Reinhold, Eberhart Steitz and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ness City on Monday, September 27, 10:30 am with Pastor Jon Anderson and Pastor Robert Kreier presiding. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Friday 1 pm until 9 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am until 9 pm. Burial in the Ness City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the church or Oaks Indian Mission, Oaks, Oklahoma
