Wallace Lynn Schweitzer
Wally L. Schweitzer, age 57, passed away January 7, 2012 at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. He was born April 28, 1954 in Ransom, Kansas the son of Wallace and Burdene Fairbank Schweitzer.
Following in his father's footsteps, Wally started working at the coop in Ransom right out of high school and continued working there for 39 1/2 years. He was a member of the Fort Hays HOG Chapter and loved everything motorcycle. He loved his Harleys almost as much as he loved his family. Although Wally fought cancer for many years he was often heard say, "Knees in the breeze is my only disease."
On October 1, 1977 he married Tammy Friess in Ransom. Wally is survived by his wife, Tammy; his son, Zachary Schweitzer and his fiancee Darcy Seib, Ness City; daughter Lindsay Flax and her husband Tyson, WaKeeney; three sisters, Betty Atkinson, Arlington, Texas, Cindy Berry and Anna Mae Klitzke both of Ransom. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Basgall.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, January 11, 2012, 10:30 at St. Aloysius Church, Ransom with Rev. Bill Ummel presiding. Burial in the Ransom Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M., Visitation on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
