Obituary

Wayne LeRoy Stiawalt, age 92, passed away on March 6, 2020 at the Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas. He was born on February 12, 1928 in Lane County, Kansas the son of William Chester and Mabel Beatrice (Reed) Stiawalt.

He was a farmer most of his life, but family always came first. He married Florence Loraine (Cline) on Monday, May 23, 1949, in Dodge City, Kansas. Wayne lived on the family farm in SW Ness County until moving his family to Ness City in 1957. For a few years he worked at West Side Service Center and he and Florence owned and operated the Frigid Crème in Ness City for 13 years. Wayne graduated from Beeler High School in 1946. He was a member of the Ness City First Baptist Church and Gideons International. He was a former Ness City School Board Member. Wayne enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping, and he loved to attend his grandchildren's sports and academic activities.

Survivors include son, Clinton Stiawalt and his wife, Debbie, of Beeler; daughter, Pamela Peirano and her husband, Alan, of Derby; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, on January 13, 2003; his parents; one sister, Catherine and three brothers, Claude, Glenn, and Zack.

Funeral service will be on Friday, March 13, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Ness City. Burial in the Ness City Cemetery. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Thursday, March 12th, 2020, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Ness County Volunteer Fire Department or First Baptist Church Missions.
