Obituary

William Dana Miner, age 65, passed away in his home in Ness City, Kansas on January 6, 2014. He was born on February 15, 1948 in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Alden B. and Gwen L. Miner.

He was a member of the Rotary Club, Boy Scout Council, and the United Methodist Church, all of Ness City. He was a member of the NRA, the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, and the American Yankee Association. Bill was an avid historian, an outdoorsman, and a dedicated musician. He operated Miner Bros. Company in Ness City from 1975 to present. He was a member of the Frank Stull Post 152 American Legion, Ness City. He flew 106 Fighter Jets in the United States Air Force Air Defense Command in the early 70's and continued flying throughout his life..

He graduated from Kansas State where he met his wife, Beth Gieber. They married on April 16, 1971. She survives. He is also survived by his parents; his daughter, Andi Miner Washburn and her husband Dr. Shannon Washburn of Manhattan, Kansas; son, Dr. Daniel Miner of Hays, Kansas, his brother, Dennis Miner and his wife Judy of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, and his grandchildren, Anna and Kate Washburn, and Wilson, Ansen and Jensen Miner.

A memorial visitation to celebrate the life of Bill Miner, to share stories and memories, will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City on Sunday, January 12 from 2-4 PM. Cremation has taken place.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Ness County Home Health or the Cancer Care Center of Great Bend.
