Marilyn Yvonne Kiener Gantz of Ness City, Kansas passed away on June 2, 2018 in Omaha, NE. She was born on May 18, 1934 in Lebanon, Kansas to Jessie and Albert Kiener and she has a younger sister Leatrice "Leah".
Yvonne graduated from Glen Elder High School in 1952 and attended Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina, Kansas. She was a secretary for Metropolitan Life Insurance office in Salina. A blind date led to a wedding to Jack Gantz, of Ness City, Kansas. They were married in the Glen Elder Methodist Church, June 3, 1956. They had two children, Scott and Paige.
Yvonne earned a degree from Fort Hays State University where she received her teaching certificate. She taught in several high schools: McCracken, Dighton & Ness City. Her focus was English, she created yearbooks, directed student plays, and was even a librarian. Perfect for someone whos' passion was reading. She also served as church secretary at the United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed volunteering her time at the Methodist Church Thrift Shop, belonged to the local chapter of PEO, a lifetime member of Eastern Star, The United Methodist Church, The American Legion Auxiliary, and The United Methodist Women. She also spent time playing bridge, her favorite card game, or reading book after book.
Survivors include her daughter, Paige & son-in-law Mike Farrell of Omaha, Nebraska; sister Leatrice and Hugh Renard of Casa Grande, Arizona; brother-in-law, Robert Gantz of Ness City, Kansas and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her grandchildren, Jack Gantz Farrell and Elizabeth Ann Farrell of Omaha, Nebraska, were the lights of her life. When she wasn't traveling with her good friends, she was spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Scott Gantz.
Funeral service will be on Friday, June 8, 2018, 10:00 A.M., at the United Methodist Church, Ness City, Kansas. Burial will be in the Ness City Cemetery, Ness City, Kansas. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M., with the family present from 7:00 to 9:00P.M.Fitzgerald Funeral Home
