Ethel Kay Foos, 85, passed away on March 24, 2026, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born on November 9, 1940, in Bazine, Kansas the daughter of Theodore and Wilma (Hoersch) Wittman.
Ethel was a cook at the Bazine Schools for 19 years and seamstress at the LaCrosse Furniture Factory for 19 years. She also worked as bookkeeper for John Deere and a cook at the LaCrosse Sale Barn. Most importantly, she was a farmwife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of St. Paul Congregational Church and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a 4-H leader and was president of the Chamber of Commerce. She married Clarence Foos on June 5, 1960, in Bazine, Kansas. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Allen Foos (Elizabeth Rambo) of Burlington, OK, and Curtis Foos of Ness City; three daughters, Kimberly Mudd (Ray Frederick) of Wichita, Debbie Foos of Ness City, and Sheila (Tim) Rehder of Lenexa; two sisters, Ardella (Urban) Gathman of Longview, TX, and Willetta (Alex) Bieker of McCook, NE; sister-in-law, Earlene Wittman of Bazine; 5 grandchildren, Caleb (Jade) Foos, Colin (Katren) Foos, Cailin (Dylan) Hamilton, J. T. Rehder, John Rehder; and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Wilma Wittman; parents-in-law, Henry and Elizabeth Foos; one son-in-law, Gene Mudd; two brothers, Raymond Wittman and Calvin Wittman; brothers and sister-in-law; Leonard Foos, Melford and Helen Schaben, Floyd and Enid Foos, Max and Alberta Douglas. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 28, 2026, 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Congregational Church, Bazine, Kansas. Burial in the Bazine Cemetery. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas, on Friday, March 27, 2026, from noon till 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Paul Congregational Church, Bazine Cemetery Fund, or Bazine Fire Department.
